I'm back!! It has been a mindblowing fall and insanely busy - almost to the point of lunacy... but I find walking along the edge of that sword keeps me on edge enough to keep scrambling to improve myself and my work. It's always around this time of year that the reflection begins... though this year I haven't really had time to breathe so that'll have to happen this winter sitting next to the fire with a cup of coca in my hands and my beautiful pup curled up at my feet.
Alas, enough about me... on to my breathtaking couple, Erin and Dan. This summer they were married at Harvard, where they met, surrounded by a couple hundred friends and family. Steeped in tradition these two had a day filled with joy and tears and a gigantic sword sent through a tasty wedding cake. It's tradition for Marines to cut their wedding cake with their sword but these two, always being as much of themselves as possible, actually ran their red velvet through. All the way through. Quite something. So without further ado I now, ever so humbly, present to you...

A couple of weeks ago I got taken for a ride. A sailboat ride...HEYo! - [you can purchase pre-sale tickets to my comedy tour HERE] The three of us spent a lovely afternoon sailing around Boston and hanging out in the commons. What a beautiful afternoon we shared on the water - subtle breeze, spectacular sunset, and impeccable company. I also have to tell you, it was rather refreshing to be shooting in the commons at night - the city takes on a whole different life... solitude, quaint little romances, and an immaculate stillness. To go from the gliding movement of a sailboat to the still quiet of an empty city at night is a beautiful paradox. Highly recommended.

SO. Funny story. I get altitude sickness. I don't kind of get altitude sickness. I get incapacitated by altitude sickness. While I was out in grad school in Denver I made it a point to conquer my illness and hiked as many 14ers as my ridiculous schedule allowed, often starting around 2am to be able to summit and get back down with time enough to get back to all the work that was piling up as I was hiking. Without fail I fell gravely ill on each one. I would not allow myself to be beaten, so I always summited, but it was not pleasant. Splitting headaches like I could never have fathomed, blurred vision, complete disorientation... I got so dizzy on Long's Peak that I actually almost fell off [thanks to some guy named Dave who caught me before I tumbled to a rather dramatic death]. My poor skin becomes so sensitive that I have to try and walk holding my clothes outstretched so nothing rubs against it. This illness has my number. My childhood dreams of becoming a mountaintop explorer are slowly fading away... CUT TO:
Jenn and Zach got married in Vail. Well, not really in Vail. More like on Vail. It's a beautiful area of the state and a delightful mountain to boot. We had some wonderfully dramatic weather and a gaggle of Texans got to sample the crisp and beautiful Colorado air, cowboy boots and all. The couple both come from very strong families and there was no shortage of love and charm at the celebration. Zach's best man was his dad. If that's not awesome, I don't know what is.
Did I get sick? Yup. Violently. Did it beat me? Nope. I won. Jennifer and Zach have lovely imagery. So take that, altitude sickness. Up yours. You can kiss it, you pansy. I now, very humbly present to you, in conjunction with the Altitude Sickness Society...

A couple of days before their celebration, I got a chance to spend some delightful time with Alisa and Chad - just in from Chicago to the lovely Cape Cod. These two are just amazing and I can't wait to show you the images from their celebration... but that's not for a little bit. Now, you can catch a glimpse of their Together Session. We started off at the family's beach house and went exploring around Sandwich. The day was crazy hot and we even ended with a little dip off the boardwalk. It was just delightful.
I love that my craft involves being around people who just are content to enjoy each other's company. It's so wonderfully life affirming. Doesn't matter what's going on in the grand scale of the world when you realize that it's held together with some pretty powerful bonds. Love it. Live it.
