I have always wanted to be the first person in America to see the sunrise.
on January 1st, 2009 I was.
I put together a little story of my adventure below. It was a truly wonderful experience - something, I fear, too few of us have had. When I was in undergrad and feeling a little stressed, I would hop in the car and drive north to Bar Harbor and watch the sunrise there, but I had never been up to West Quoddy Head in Lubec, ME. Like much of coastal Maine, it pretty much goes into hibernation during the off season, but even with everything boarded up it was so wonderfully beautiful up there. Definitely going back. Care to join?
Life just keeps going on and on - it doesn't really slow down ever and it seems like it's really easy to get caught in the 'One day I want to...' trap. Is there something you've always wanted to do? I hope that when you're eighty that 'One day I want to...' hasn't turned into 'When I was younger, I wish I had...' Take a little time in this new year to let your eyes be opened further than you thought they could.
